28) Lighting ๐
Hello and welcome back to my blog!
Today I will be discussing the lighting used in my project
In my opener, we have decided to utilize 3-point, natural lighting, led, and color changing light with tripod
So far, our film has only called for natural lighting, aside from one scene where we needed to utilize white lighting to make the scene feel more sterile.
So what have we filmed so far?
As of right now, our scenes were either at night in a place where we could not control the lighting or towards sunset, where golden hour was hitting. Although we could not control these variables, it was exactly the lighting that we were looking for in our film. In our golden hour scene, we had to make sure we left the house at the perfect time and the perfect area where the sun could creep through the most. We also shot scenes in a gas station where the light was white and sterile but the colorful items helped compensate for the bland lighting.
What lighting were we able to control?
So for our present time scenes we wanted them to feel as empty and lonely as possible and what better than to use white lighting to achieve that! Leah's mom let us borrow her lighting equipment to film some of the scenes. For example, in a scene, 'Vale' had to start ripping down the pictures from her fairy light wall to take with her to college and empty out her room. This would convey a feeling of loneliness and sadness, as the room becomes emptier, and emptier it also loses the touch of the girl that has lived there her whole life. Using the brightest white setting on Leah's mom's equipment, we were able to convey the bleak lighting that we were looking for.
Here is the equipment:
