Further insights on my film!
HELLLOOOO MY PARTY PEOPLEEEEE today I will be giving you some insight and sneak peaks on my overall project!
So by now we all know the overall theme of my movie opener and the overall plot. HOWEVER! I want to go deeper into some of the meanings of our scenes and why we decided to do them!
1- Pictures used and shown in project
As some of you may not know, the girls I have decided to make my film opener with are my actual closest friends. The scene where Vale (Mariana) is packing up her boxes and pulling down pictures are pictures from times that we have actually hung out in the past. We felt like it was appropriate to use those pictures and not create 'fake memories' because it felt true to our project and made it all seem the more real.
2- How we chose what flashback scenes we wanted to film
When we first came up with the idea of our short film, all the ideas for the flashback scenes of our project came flooding in, while the scenes of the 'present' were harder to think of. I was always a little confused on why until I realized it was difficult to think of . It was because I haven't lived moving away yet, I haven't lived going to college yet. However, I have lived through all the 'flashback' scenes that we did. All of the scenes that we filmed are real life representation of things that we have all done together before.
3- The importance of the calendar scenes
In our film, we have decided to add a calendar to mark the days before Vale leaves for college, essentially leaving behind all her friends as well. I believe that this scene is so important because it really sets everything together. Moreover, the calendar scene just makes it feel all the more real. We have added random moments of a teenage girls life such as "grab lunch with Mami", "Go on a date with bae", or "Break up with bae." There are also subtle reminders that college is coming up and there's no escape from it. Such as "*pack" "Remember to pack!" "Orientation for UM" So not only does this scene establish the overall theme of my film, it also helps it feel overall more real.
