31) Representation 😼

 Hello and welcome back!!!

In today's blog I will be discussing what my group and I are trying to represent in our film.

My film aims to represent the people who are going through a big change in their lives say a big move, losing friends, new beginnings, and most obviously seniors in high school who are leaving the lives they now know. Our film is a bit stereotypical if you think about it on the big spectrum but it incorporates the lives of my friends and I as well so it has our own personal touch and emotional touch to it as well. We are challenging the representation because although the film is emotional throughout as it shows the friends, it highlights that change and moving is not something that should be entirely looked down on and it has bright sides to it as well such as new beginnings and doors opening.

Furthermore, my film represents theories of identities. Each girl in my film is going to a different college. This shows that they CAN live without each other and it also highlights new beginnings for each of them. We wanted to express the hardships of moving away from people that you have known your whole life. This huge move for the girls shows personal growth and resiliency. This reminds them that they have their own identity apart from each other.

I do not feel as though I needed to change any characters to fit this theme. Since the beginning, we already knew how we wanted our characters to act. As high school students ourselves we know the impending fact that we will not remain high school students for the rest of our lives  and that we will have to move on and grow as people. Keeping this in mind, I believe that this is one of the most authentic representations for our project and us as the characters aligns perfectly.
