Preparing To Film

 As Mariana and I began to prepare to film our project, we had to go over the fundamental steps and essential parts of filming.

Actors

In the beginning, we had originally thought we were lucked out with our actors scene our group just consisted of my close friends and I. I had thought that this would be a one and done and the easiest part for my project but boy was I wrong. After Nahomy and Leah had left the group, Mariana and I panicked on who else could be our actresses for our film. We then texted around to see who would want to be apart of our film and we thought we had lucked out again when we immediately found two girls who were willing to be apart of our project. That was... until Mia, our other actress had remembered she had competitions for her own clubs and other extracurriculars. We knew we had to find another person, and quick so in our last efforts to find someone, we had asked our other friend Natalie If she knew anyone that would be willing to be apart of our group. In the end, we had lucked out once again when she had agreed to be apart of our film. In the end, these are our final actress line ups

Costumes

The costuming for this film is not much different as to what regular high school students would wear in their everyday life however, each girl has their own special aesthetic. As seen in the mood board, every girl has their own sense of style and the way they present themselves. With Amber with a more sporty style, Mandy with a streetwear style, Lucia with a soft style, and Chloe with an artsy style. While these costumes play a big part in this film, the costuming will change throughout the time jumps. With the girls as their younger versions in pigtails or braids with just a more childish sense of style and self. Each actress will create their own costume based on this description for each character so that the costume is true to each actress.

Props

Props will play a major role in this film opener to help differentiate the different time stamps and the different personality of each girl. Example of some props are the bracelet making kits the girls use, the hairbrush that they use to play with their hair, or even the polaroids and picture/picture frames used to show the history that the girls share together. Although there will be many more props used while we film, these are just a few quick examples as to what we will be using to create our film.

Locations

The location of the film will be taken in Lucia's room/ Marianas bedroom. Since her bedroom is already decorated and girly, it will not be hard to convey the feeling of nostalgia and girlhood. While the entire film will not be taking place in her room, a majority of it will be so I will be setting this as the main location of our opener.

Dates and Time

I think that the hardest part of working in a group is finding an availability for all your group members that work for everyone. While it has been very difficult to make a time and place to start filming since Mariana was out of the country for this break and Thanksgiving break, we have reserved all of January to film and edit our opener. If we follow the strict schedule of meeting up accordingly starting this week. 1/6-1/12 until the end of January, we should be able to finish our film in time and have it done nicely instead of having it done half heartedly.

Film Equipment

While none of us own professional filming equipment, we know a couple people that have agreed to loan us their equipment. My cousin for example has agreed to let us borrow his camera for the majority of our filming process. For lighting and audio recording however, I am borrowing some equipment from a friend that was so kindly willing to let us borrow their stuff. This film will not need extremely elaborate equipment as it will all be recorded at home where there will likely not be much ambient noise and chatter. 

These are all the things I had to put into precaution before I started filming. The filming will start the weekend of (January 11-12) and will span until we finish then. Thank you for tuning into my blog!
