Initial Storyboarding
Hello and welcome back to my amazing blog!!!
Today I will be introducing my initial storyboard for my final project.
In the beginning, Mariana and I brainstormed some ideas and quirks that our film could have, such as the personality and behavior of the girls. This is a coming of age film opener that shows the lives of four individual friends. In this storyboard, we open in one of our characters, Lucia's childhood room, the room she will be leaving for her college dorms. The film jumps from flashbacks to present tense to show the long tethered history that the girls share with each other and the trust that they have built with one another. While this storyboard shows the emotional part of moving away from home and leaving the people you love, towards the end it also highlights a suspenseful and nerve-wracking ending since it shows the clear nervousness of the girls and the scared look on all of their faces as someone now knows their secret.
This storyboard was quite hard to build together with Mariana due to the fact that she was all the way in Colombia but we still made the time to call and work on it together during her trip. While she made the physical part of the paper, I aided in the ideas and mental placements of where all the shots would be taken place. We thought strategically how we would be able to film each shot in her house to align with our storyboard. This storyboard helps our film flow tremendously as it gives us a visual and example on how we could film our project and if there's any changes or concerns we could just fix the storyboard. By drawing this, we were able to put our thoughts for our project onto a physical piece of paper and be able to visualize it for real instead of just mentally.
