Rating Former Student Work

Past Student Work

Hello everyone! In today's blog post, I will be reviewing the work of past Aice Media students and describing the strengths and weaknesses of each video.

Video One: Roll Call

This film opener was made adequately well, a notable strength factor in this opener, however, is the acting of the students. This was honestly pretty impressive and looks like a lot of time was spent on it. I enjoyed the shots of the police car as it made it feel all the more real. The shots convey suspense, making the film opener all the more interesting. A weakness that was in this film, however, is I would say the editing did not feel seamless and felt very ragged and cut. Furthermore, text displaying the names of the actors seemed out of place and was a bit distracting.

Video Two: New Everything

This film opener was very weak in terms of videography and editing however, the idea could have been very strong if more effort was put in. From this video, I can see the daily life of a high school student, which is a relatable theme for a lot of people. However, the editing and transitioning just weren't fluid whatsoever and seemed a bit awkward. This Film opener felt like it was very rushed and overall just wasn't very enjoyable.

Video Three: Dreamland

I would say this film was quite enjoyable, it had a dreamy and serene feel to it as the name would imply. I liked the filter that was added to this film, it made it feel almost untouchable and ungraspable. I believe that one thing that could've improved this film would have been the cuts more fluid. Furthermore, the narrative of the film was quite hard to grasp. All in all though, the camera angels and lighting in this film were very nice and I would say is a strength of this opener.

Video Four: Dear Lover

This film was quite nice to watch.  I enjoyed the overall production, with the opening scene, title scene, and even the music. I enjoyed the setting in which these shots took place. However a weakness in this film would be the camera movement and whoever is holding the camera. It's quite shaky and feels a little unprofessional and takes away from the overall wellness of the film itself.

Video Five: Dare To Thrill

This film was by far my favorite one I've watched today. I understood the plot of the film easily and almost felt as if I were immersed into the film myself. The shots seemed as if they were professionally recorded and the vibe of the film was nice. The music chosen for this film helped contribute to the thrilling feel of the film. I cannot find any weaknesses to this film and will say that it's very well made.
