25) Sound 🎧
Hello and welcome back to the greatest blog! Today, we will be discussing the sound that will be used within this opener!
Before I start with my blog today however, I have a few announcements I need to say to you guys...
1- Our project has changed
2- We lost our two actresses
3- we gained our old actresses + got our old group members back!
(so in the end it was honestly a win) 🤷🏻♀️
Okay, back to the scheduled program... So basically in our new opener, there will be no dialogue and our film will just have music in the background. Having a song in the background of a movie, film, or short film is important because it can completely change the vibe of the film depending on what the music you are playing is conveying. Keeping this in mind, it was important that we chose a song that fit the vibe of adolescence and friendship. In the end, after trial and error, we decided on "Ribs" by Lorde. This song has beautiful lyrics that align perfectly with our opener, such as "You're the only friend I need" or "It feels so scary, getting old"
Mariana has chosen to bear the weight of editing our project so she decided to also edit the song so it fit our project and the time frame that we're given. With the allotted time frame for the project being two minutes and the song being four, we needed to decide what part of the songs fit best and were the most vital to convey the feeling of 'girlhood'. Mariana used the 'Cap-Cut' software to create the edit (same that we used for the sound project). In the process of creating this new bit for the opener, we mainly just cut off the beginning of the song which was just a fade into the actual lyrics and made our project start off towards the middle. In the beginning of the opener, the music will be diegetic, as the girls are in car enjoying the song together however, after this scene the music will then become non-diegetic, to where the girls are unable to hear it, but it is in the background for the audience to hear.
